April 1, 2011 was a great day for WCHS as Hank Zhao, Summer Wu, Jessica Yun, Nicole Bernardini, Austin Grow, Brittany Lamon-Paredes, Yvonne Lan, Lily Yen , Shelby and McKayla Kennedy went to the ACSI Regional Science Fair which was held at Biola University in La Mirada. The ACSI Regional Science Fair is open to all Christian schools in Southern California from Ventura to San Diego. The High School division has three areas of competition: Physical Science, Life Science and Engineering. This year, our top students who excelled in the Science Expo of early March competed in the Life Science and the Physical Science categories.
Hank Zhao, Summer Wu and Jessica Yun entered their, “ Does Temperature affect eh Surface Tension of Water?” They went on to take second place in the Physical Science category. They were only one or two points behind the first place group. Nicole Bernardini entered the “What household Products will fix scratched CDs?” in the Physical Science category taking third place! Yvonne Lan and Lily Yen entered their project, “Do natural materials purify water?” received a superior rating in the Physical Science category.
Austin Grow, and Brittany Lamon-Paredes entered their project, “Is there more DNA in larger sized living things?” received a superior rating in the Life Science category. McKayala and Shelby Kennedy ‘s project, “Does Temperature affect the pH of Orange Juice?” received and excellent rating in the Life Science category.
