2011 Yearbook Recieves First Place Nationally!

I am pleased to announce that the 2011 Western Christian High School yearbook has been inducted into Walsworth Publishing Company’s Gallery of Excellence. The Gallery of Excellence is a showcase of the company’s top yearbooks. Like your yearbook, Gallery books demonstrate true mastery of a yearbook’s purpose – to provide thorough coverage of the school year with interesting stories that highlight all types of students using welt-written copy, stunning photography and trendy design. Only a small percentage of yearbooks published by Walsworth enter the Gallery each year. In fact, your school competed against 10 schools nationally, with the same caliber and won first place Along with this honor, many students and advisers will have the opportunity to see your yearbook. Gallery of Excellence yearbooks are used as examples by our yearbook sales representatives nationwide. These books are loaned to schools to use as idea generators, and are displayed at regional, state and national conventions and workshops, Spreads from many of these yearbooks are used as illustrations in Walworth’s resource materials, The selection of your yearbook is an acknowledgement of your staffs dedication to producing a high-quality publication. Photo Gallery: Choir Tour 2011

Members of our choir traveled to San Francisco to participate in the Heritage Festival. Westerns choir earned a Silver, 2nd place, while Hilltop earned a Gold, 1st place. After the festival they led the Palm Sunday service at a small church in Crow’s Landing, CA. It was a quick trip but they still had fun for time at Pier 39 and Great America theme park.

Lancer Theatre Presents: Theatre One Acts On October 8-9th, 2010

Night of One Acts: Tickets are now on sale for Lancer Theatre’s production of a Night of One Acts. One Acts are a series of short plays thematically arranged and performed together. They are the short stories of the fiction novel world or the digital shorts of the film world. Come out to laugh and experience theatre in a unique and exciting format never before seen on this campus! Tickets are $5 for all everyone. Faculty and Staff of WCHS will be admitted FREE of charge. Performances will begin at 7 pm on October 8-9th, 2010.

Choir Tour 2010: San Francisco, Western Awarded 1st Place in Choral Festival

Choir and Hilltop Faith traveled to San Francisco the last weekend in May. The students and faculty had a wonderful time at Redwood Christian school and at the Heritage Festival. The choir and Hilltop Faith were honored with a gold/first place rating/ranking at the festival. Western is blessed to have wonderful, talented students and a tremendous Choir Director. Thank you Mr. Bradley and congratulations to all the students.

Western Christian Vocalist Selected for the 2010 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

Connor Smith, a student at Western Christian High School, has been selected for the 2010 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

He will be a part of the Honors Choir as a tenor. Selection to the Honors Orchestra, Honors Band, and Honors Choir is limited to the 200 highest-rated high school performers from across North America.

Connor auditioned this past fall for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by a master conductor and Selection Board committee.

Connor studies music under the direction of Western Christian’s director, Jason Bradley. He is a member of the school’s choir and its audition group, “Hilltop Faith.” Additionally, he is active in the drama program, has performed for the Association of Christian Schools International and is a member of The Gary Bonner Singers.

Finalists will come together for five days in June in New York City to have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned choral conductor, Dr. Eph Ehly, attend a Juilliard seminar and visit the city.

The June 26 performance is available to the public and specially invited representatives from collegiate music programs and the New York arts community.
