Save the Date “The Auction” Saturday, May 15th, 2010

In just a matter of weeks, we will come together for an evening unlike any other here at Western Christian. This year’s auction promises to be very exciting, with food, raffles, silent auctions and the live auction. It is always a great night of fun and fellowship.

We are pleased to announce that the funds raised through the auction will be going towards new computers, software upgrades and finishing the installation of smart boards on the Claremont campus. All proceeds raised through the high school will be going directly towards phase one of the football field.

You can help the auction be a success by donating an item or service to be sold. Previous donations have included rental & time share vacation homes, tickets to sporting events, airline tickets or miles, sports memorabilia, tickets to the theater, art work or collectibles. Perhaps you are in the service industry and could donate dental work, landscaping, flooring, air conditioning or automobile services or salon or spa services.

The Auction will take place on Saturday, May 15th, on the Claremont campus. This is a wonderful time where we can come together and show our children that we can make a difference! We look forward to seeing you there!

MySchoolAccount.com Refund/Waived Enrollment Fee

We would like to thank all of you who have signed up and are using the new Western Christian Prepaid Campus Account. We have great news for those of you who have already signed up, as well as for those of you who have yet to do so.

Effective today, the enrollment fee is waived for the remainder of the 2009 and 2010 school year. For those of you who have already paid you will receive a credit to your account, equal to the amount that you paid by Friday, December 3rd. For those of you who have not yet signed up to establish you account, please do so by December 15, 2009. There will be no enrollment fee.

Please go to www.myschoolaccount.com to sign up. You will need your student’s Western Christian Student ID# to complete the process. That number can be found on your student’s ID card. Once you have established your account you will be ready to use it for all on-campus purchases as well as other transactions that we will begin transitioning from cash and check collection to the Western Christian Prepaid Campus Account. Again, we ask that all parents establish their account by December 15, 2009.

Grand Opening Celebration featured in Claremont Courier

The Western Christian Schools feel right at home in Upland.

The oldest organization of Christian schools on the west coast celebrated the relocation of Western Christian High School from Covina to the nearby city last Thursday in a grand opening representing the turning of a new leaf in the organization’s history.

“Today, we are reminded of the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father from one generation to the next,” said Western Christian Schools Superintendent Karen Winter. “Generations of alumni and family have prayed, believing God for a special campus to preserve the legacy of future generations.”

Claremont Mayor Pro-Tem Linda Elderkin speaks at the newly relocated Western Christian School in Upland. The WCS preschool through 8th-grade campus will remain in Claremont.

Along with hundreds of students, the event included appearances by Upland Mayor John Pomierski, Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Regional Director Jerry Haddock and Claremont Mayor Pro-Tem Linda Elderkin.

Western Christian Schools begins at new Upland campus

UPLAND – The merging of Western Christian High School and Upland Christian High School was official Tuesday as the students, faculty and staff began a new school year together. Students formerly enrolled at Upland Christian Schools and students from the Western Christian High School campus in Covina shared the same goals of finding their new classes before the bell.

“It’s been a good blending of students not only from public schools all around, but we have kids from the Upland campus as well as the Western campus just coming all together,” said Karen Winter, superintendent of Western Christian Schools. “So that’s just been a nice collaboration and unity.”
