Meet Coach Kevin Oberlander – Western’s New Varsity Football Coach
We are excited to welcome Coach Kevin Oberlander to the Western Christian High School family as our new Varsity Football coach!
Kevin, a native of Atwater, CA, graduated from Atwater High School and lettered in Varsity football. He received a scholarship to play Quarterback at Trinity University, outside of Chicago, earning MVP honors for the Mid-States Conference in 2004. He was named All-American in that same season leading his team to the NAIA national playoffs, placing 14th in the nation. He went on to play Arena Football in Omaha, Nebraska after graduation, as well as coaching quarterbacks for Trinity.
For the past three years, he has served as quarterbacks coach, and Assistant Offensive Coordinator for Whittier Christian High School in LaHabra, CA. His team amassed a 21 – 6 record in two years, earning a trip to the CIF Championship game in 2010. He also serves as Strength & Conditioning Coordinator working with 14 different teams on campus.
His passion is coaching biblical football, something he was taught at Trinity University as a player and a coach. His vision for biblical football at Western Christian includes developing and teaching the players to “Love, Lead and Compete”. He earned his B.A. in Sports and Wellness Management from Trinity. His wife, Andrea, is an alumnus of Western Christian High School (2002) and they reside in La Habra, CA with one cat (Jack) and one dog (Ace).
