Boys Basketball CIF Playoff Results

Lancer Varsity Basketball won round 1 of CIF playoffs against Kern Valley High School with a final score 48 to 40. 

Round 2 playoff game was held on the Lancer’s home court on Friday, February 18th.  Lancer fans packed the stands in support of the Western Christian Varsity team as they played against Muir High School.  Lancers were in the lead for almost the entire game, but in the final minutes Muir came back to win 55 to 54.

Congratulations to the Western Christian Lancers Varsity Basketball players and coaches on an outstanding year!

Round 1 Boys  CIF Basketball play-offs, Div 5AA @ Kern Valley HS, Feb. 16th @ 6:00PM – Lancers win 48-40

Round 2 Boys CIF Basketball play-offs, Div 5AA @ Western vs. Muir HS, Feb. 18th @ 7:00PM – Lancers lose 54-55.

Meet Football Coach Kevin Oberlander

Meet Coach Kevin Oberlander – Western’s New Varsity Football Coach

We are excited to welcome Coach Kevin Oberlander to the Western Christian High School family as our new Varsity Football coach!

Kevin, a native of Atwater, CA, graduated from Atwater High School and lettered in Varsity football.  He received a scholarship to play Quarterback at Trinity University, outside of Chicago, earning MVP honors for the Mid-States Conference in 2004.  He was named All-American in that same season leading his team to the NAIA national playoffs, placing 14^th in the nation.  He went on to play Arena Football in Omaha, Nebraska after graduation, as well as coaching quarterbacks for Trinity.

For the past three years, he has served as quarterbacks coach, and Assistant Offensive Coordinator for Whittier Christian High School in LaHabra, CA.  His team amassed a 21 – 6 record in two years, earning a trip to the CIF Championship game in 2010.  He also serves as Strength & Conditioning Coordinator working with 14 different teams on campus.

His passion is coaching biblical football, something he was taught at Trinity University as a player and a coach.  His vision for biblical football at Western Christian includes developing and teaching the players to “Love, Lead and Compete”. He earned his B.A. in Sports and Wellness Management from Trinity.  His wife, Andrea, is an alumnus of Western Christian High School (2002) and they reside in La Habra, CA with one cat (Jack) and one dog (Ace).

Senior Christian Solis Signs with Div. 2 Malone College

Senior Christian Solis

Were excited to announce that Christian Solis has signed a letter of intent to play football at Malone College (Division 2) in Canton, Ohio.  Christian was joined by his parents, Coach Kirkpatrick and Coach Coulter along with teammates, friends, and family.

Christian had an outstanding football season this year and was selected to for 1st Team All League honors as wide receiver in the Ambassador League.

Christian was also featured this season through an article in the daily bulletin entitled “For Western Christian’s Solis, leadership matters” you can read this article here.

Christian joins a long list of Western athletes to be blessed to continue their playing career in college.  To God be the Glory…Go Lancers!!!

Introducing Coach Levens

Introducing new Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Dustin Levens.

Coach Levens has played Volleyball for almost 20 years. He played Club Volleyball for 3 years and played in the Junior Olympics in high school. His college team placed 2^nd in the South Coast Conferences.

You might remember Coach Levens as the JV Volleyball Coach for 2010. Currently Coach Levens is the Director of a Youth Sports League at Water of Life Community Church and has been so since 2008.

Mr. Levens is married with two beautiful daughters, Grace (3 years old) and Taylor (8 months old).  He is self proclaimed  sports nut who loves all things sports related. Most importantly Coach Levens has been saved for over 20 years and is a passionate follower of Christ.

Please welcome Coach Dustin Levens to the Western Christian family.

Volleyball 2nd Round Playoffs @ Home Thurs. Nov. 11th 7pm

Last night, Western Christian Varsity Volleyball upset #1 league ranked Katella High School.  After loosing the 1st match, the Lady Lancers stunned the previously 10-0 Knights winning the next three matches to take the game.

The 2nd round of CIF playoffs for Lady Lancers volleyball will be tomorrow, Thursday, November 11th at 7:00PM at home (in our gym)!  Our Lady Lancers will take on Campbell Hall.

Tickets for CIF playoffs are $7 for adults and $5 for students.  Tickets can be purchased from Brianne Brown in the Attendance Office (Burton West).

To support our Lady Lancers, wear black so that we can black-out the stands!
