Western Christian Schools Home Page
"Western Christian School has been a true blessing for our family. When we were looking for a school for our child we prayed for direction and the Lord led us to Western Christian. We could not have imagined a more positive and nurturing environment for our child to learn in. Our decision in bringing our child to WCS has been reinforced by caring, love and a commitment to bringing out the best in our child. From the Principal to Teachers to Aides, everyone has gone out of their way to make us feel part of the WCS family, and we appreciate all the extra steps that have been taken to make sure that our son not only receives the best formal education, but the best social and Christian education possible. We have no doubt that Western Christian School will play an integral role in the success of our child."

Western Christian Alumni Baseball Game

Posted on March 10th, 2010

Dear Alumni,

It is baseball season again and the tradition that you have established is still running strong.  In 2009 the Fighting Lancers went 17-9 and 10-2 in league winning our third Championship in four years.  Senior Robert Wiley was selected League Most Valuable Player joining the ranks of Mark Reynoso (Class of 2008) and Dustin Richmond (Class of 2006).  Junior CJ Beatty was selected as the league’s Pitcher of the Year, Western Christian’s first.

Since the return of Head Coach Mark Gabbard in 2006 the Lancers have compiled an overall record of 55-45 and a league record of 33-15.  In the process the team has produced three league titles, three league MVPs, and six All-CIF players while being ranked in the top 10 twice.

Alumni Virgil Chavirra (Class of 2006) is a starting second baseman and a leading hitter for the #17 ranked Azusa Pacific University Cougars.  Alumni Mark Reynoso (Class of 2008) is currently a player for NCAA Division I Coppin State.  The tradition at Western Christian has been established an carried on by you.

For this reason we are putting together the Fourth Annual Western Christian High School Alumni baseball game on April 17, 2010 at 9:00A.  The game will be played at Memorial Park South Field next to San Antonio Hospital in the city of Upland.  Read the rest of this entry »

Win By Walkoff

AZUSA, Calif. — Sophomore rightfielder Virgil Chavira’s 2-run walkoff home run lifted the NAIA’s No. 8-ranked Azusa Pacific to an 11-3, 7-6 doubleheader sweep over Westmont Saturday afternoon.

Chavira, who moved up to the No. 3 spot in the lineup for the first time in his career, stepped to the plate with a runner on second with 1 out in the bottom of the seventh, and he knocked the first pitch he saw from Westmont lefty Dan Price over the right-field fence to erase the 6-5 deficit and give the Cougars the sweep they needed to hold its spot in a 3-way tie atop the Golden State Athletic Conference standings.

“I tried not to think about the situation too much,” Chavira said. “Once I stepped into the box, the first thought that ran through my mind was obviously to hit a home run, but I wasn’t going to try to hit a bomb. I just wanted to hit something hard.” Read the rest of this entry »
