Winter Sports Update

Boys Varsity Basketball

The Varsity basketball team begins Christian League play this Friday night against Ontario Christian at home, following an excellent 10-4 preseason record.
Most recently, the Lancers won the Consolation Championship at the large school Covina Christmas Tournament, especially gratifying for Covina High alumnus Coach Jeff Wheeler. Sammy Santillano was named to the All-Tournament team, and Western posted big wins over Sierra Vista, Covina, and California.

Boys Soccer for the week of Dec. 7-11
This week boys soccer had their first loss against Canyon High School. They played hard but the competitors kept them down . Zach Watkins and John Esparza each scored a goal on the second half making the final score a 5-2 loss for Western. On Thursday we came back with a win against Capistrano Valley Christian. Zach Watkins scored 4 goals and John Esparza, D.J. Bitolas, and David Park each scoring a goal to bring the final score 7-1.
(Week of Nov.3oth – Dec. 4th)
Boys Soccer had their first pre league game this week against Whitney H.S. starting their season with a big win. Zach Watkins scored 2 goals while Carter Watkins scored the 3rd bringing the final score to a 3-0 win . Second game was against LaVerne Lutheran. The boys were off to a slow start this game with Zach Watkins scoring the only goal during the first half. After halftime they were ready to start scoring. We scored 3 goals 1 each by D.J Bitolas, Thomas Mutch and John Esparza to bring the final score to a 4-0 win against LaVerne Lutheran.
