Fall Sports Update 9/25/08

Posted on September 25th, 2008

Lancer Family,

Another good week as the ship has been righted and we are sailing in right direction. Every program was successful this week and I am excited to share the news with you. Another special thank you goes out to our article liaisons who have been so diligent in getting me the information. We want to take time to praise God for taking care of Cheerleader Jaclyn Hemphil. She had surgery last Tuesday to remove cancer in her thyroid. The reports are positive and she has already returned to the squad.

Click here for a flyer of the Champions of Tomorrow event the booster club is hosting. This is going to be a great time of music, speakers, and fellowship. It is open to students, parents, family, faculty, staff, community and anyone else who wants to join in. Lisa Waldvogel has worked hard on securing quality entertainment and this is something we want to become a huge annual event. Contact her at locatelisa@roadrunner.com to find out how to purchase your tickets. We look forward to seeing you at the games and Champions of Tomorrow.

Western Christian High School’s football team has called a variety of different fields its home, but never its own.

Fall Sports Update 9/16/08

Posted on September 16th, 2008

We had a good week last week as Cross Country started their season under new Head Coach Sean Henning at the Laguna Hills Invite and volleyball started off strong at the Gladstone Tournament going 2-2 on the weekend.  Football had a good week as they are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2001.  And the grand opening of our new on campus football field was a huge success and the excitement was undeniable.  It is an exciting time here at THE WC and this week should not be any different.

Here we go Lancer faithful.  Buy your boarding pass and buckle your seat belts.  This will be a non smoking flight to The Sky is the Limit.  Get on board or step aside because we are going to be rolling one way or another.  We have probably the best all around coaching staff in the athletic department than this school has ever had.  We need to get caulking on the cracks because this place is oozing with excitement and we will not be held liable if you get any on your clothes.  Well enough of the introductions let us get to it:

GLENDORA – First-year Western Christian High School football coach Rob Castaneda earned his first win Friday night when the Lancers defeated Gladstone 45-27 in a nonleague season opener.

“This is a huge way to open the season for us,” Castaneda said. “For a school that only has 450 kids in the school, this is a great win for our team and our small community.”

Western Christian wasted no time, scoring on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Alex Beaton to Reed Covington. It was a lead the Lancers never relinquished.
