Hyde Signs Letter of Intent to Hope International

Covina, CA On Wednesday May 7th, 2008 in the office of Principal David Meeker , Senior Aundrea Hyde signed a Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball at Hope International University in Fullerton. As a 
Senior at Western Christian Hyde led the Christian League in scoring with 15.9 points per game; the second place scorer averaged a full four points less. Hyde ended up 3rd on the list in rebounds at 9.5, but her greatest accomplishment was the respect that she commanded from the other teams who selected her as the Christian League Most Valuable Player. This award is typically given to a player on the team who finishes first or possibly an individual from the league runner-up. Head Coach Adam Bartholomew’s Lancers finished 5th in league this year, yet he managed to garnish another League MVP for Western Christian’s history books.
Hyde was not a one year wonder by any means as she broke the top ten in three categories for career statistics. She finished 7th on the career list in points scored with 1,073 and just 22 points shy of Heather Lokar (Class of 2004) in sixth. On January 15, 2008 she took over the sixth spot for the most individual points in a game when she put up 30 points on the night. Hyde also 
finished her career 5th in all time rebounds with an astonishing 637 boards.
It was a good day for Hyde as she signed her Letter of Intent while being surrounded and supported by Bartholomew, Mom, Dad, and freshman brother Andrew. Bartholomew commented, “It is never a bad day when another one of your players gets to go on and keep playing. We are proud of her and her accomplishments.” Hyde will also receive an academic scholarship rewarding her ability to hold a 3.5 grade point average.
