Parent Connect: Connecting Parents, Students, & Teachers Online
Posted May 5th, 2008 in High School Comments Off
Parent Connect is a home-to-school collaboration tool that allows parents to keep track of their student’s academic progress online. Parents or guardians may visit the password-protected site to view students’ schedules, grades, assignments, and attendance.
Each family needs to register for a Parent Connect account for their students. Registration can be done online by visiting http://parentconnect.westernchristian.org . Once you have registered, you will need to come to the front office with photo ID to receive a username and password for the website.
ParentCONNECT is a valuable tool for enhancing parent communication with students and with their teachers. To ensure optimal use of this technology, the following guidelines are in place for using ParentCONNECT.
· Parents may view individual student grades within five school days from the assignment due date.
· Please understand that lengthy projects, tests, lab reports and written assignments may require more time for assessment and grading before teachers can post scores.
Please be aware of the following when using ParentCONNECT:
· ParentCONNECT is designed to increase communication with your child. If you have questions about assignments and grades, please check with your child before consulting the school.
· Many departments keep homework and participation grades in a way that can only be posted at the end of a grading period or semester. Your child is more than welcome to see those grades at the teacher’s convenience and the teacher is happy to send home a copy of these at specific intervals.
· Parent Connect is best used to evaluate your students overall progress in a given course. Please be aware that category point and percentage allocations vary for each class. Please consult the class syllabi for detailed explanations.
· Because of many grade book setup options available to our teachers, Parent Connect can only be relied upon to understand specifically the “recorded assignment grade” given for each assignment. Assignment weights and category values are not shown in Parent Connect but do affect the displayed overall “Class Grade”.
