Math Placement Testing for Incoming Freshmen, Class of 2013

Welcome Class of 2013 to Western Christian High School!

Please reserve the following date:
Saturday, June 13th, 2009 9:00am

All new freshmen took the readiness for Algebra test prior to admission into Western Christian High School as part of the application process.  This score was used as an assessment in determining acceptance into Western Christian High School.   The test that is being offered on June 13th is an actual placement test for students who wish to enter Geometry (or Algebra 2) for their 9th grade year.

The results of this test in combination with Algebra 1 semester grades during the 8th grade year will be used to determine the appropriate math class for 9th grade students.

Our desire is to place all students in a position to succeed in math throughout their entire high school career.

This test is for students who wish to take Geometry (or Algebra 2) their freshman year. If a student is currently in Pre-Algebra, there is no need to take the placement testing.

If you cannot attend this testing date or have any questions, please contact our registrar Nancy Spencer at nspencer@westernchristian.org or call (626) 967-0733 ext 116.

- If it is determined that a student should not go into Geometry their 9th grade year, he or she may attend the 2nd semester of Algebra 1 summer school (July 13-30) and if they earn a grade of “C” or better will be allowed to take Geometry in the fall.

Summer School Algebra (1st & 2nd semester):

- Summer School will be taking place at the High School’s current location in Covina.  Students may attend/repeat first and second semester of Algebra 1 in summer school and if they earn a grade of “C” or better (for each semester) will be allowed to take Geometry in the fall.   Special note:  A grade of “D” or  “F” for first semester of Algebra 1 is not acceptable for college; therefore, these students should take both semesters during summer school.

A flier listing summer school course offerings can be found online here.  SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE OFFICE.

The staff and administration welcome you to the Western Christian High School Family and look forward to an outstanding 2009-2010 school year.

Keeping in Touch with Moms in Touch 6/1/09

Our prayer for our children today was based on Galatians 6:9. We prayed that as the schoolyear comes to an end, our children would not grow weary while doing good, remembering that in due season they shall reap a great reward if they do not lose heart.

We prayed for continued blessing, guidance and wisdom on the school’s adminstration and staff especially at this time of moving to the new location.
We also prayed for healing and blessings for the families that are suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Our last meeting for this schoolyear will be on Mon., June 8 from 8-9am in the library. After prayer, we will be having breakfast at Dennys on Grand Ave/ 10fwy. We would like to open this to any of the Western moms who would like to join us for breakfast. We would love to meet you!

blessings,
Moms In Touch

Due to the overwhelming response from those who were not able to make the May 16th Open House, we have planned a second Open House opportunity for Saturday, June 6th, from 10 am to 11:30 am, at the Upland Campus. Please plan to come and tour the facility and meet our faculty and staff.

Experience God’s blessing for yourself and let this unlimited vision of the future catch your imagination and inspire you to be a part of a Christ-centered community that integrates faith and quality education.
