Two years of Physical Education are required to graduate.
| Physical Education 9-10 Boys | |
| The goal of boys P.E. is to raise the student’s level of fitness, motor skills, self image, social behavior, and recreational interest. P.E. should provide opportunities for the student to obtain lifetime benefits that will lead to a healthy and more enriched life. All students are required to take two years of P.E. All ninth graders must take P.E. Tenth graders may choose a P.E. elective in place of regular P.E. or play two different sports in the next three years. | |
| Physical Education 9-10 Girls | |
| The goal of girls P.E. is to raise the student’s level of fitness, motor skills, self image, social behavior, and recreational interest. | Aerobics | |
| The student will learn about the high and low impact step-class with emphasis on cardiovascular fitness. The student will identify the basic terms i.e., maximum heart rate, resting heart rate, recovery pulse rate, warm-up, and cool down. The student will identify the basic breathing techniques required for aerobic exercise. | |
| Prerequisites : Girls only. Open to grades 10-12. | |
| Weight Training. | |
| Students will learn the proper lifting/training and safety techniques associated with each muscle group. The students will be placed on a lifting regiment dependant upon what they are training for. Student–athletes in the class will train for their various sports, and students will be placed on a system designed to increase muscle endurance as well as muscle strength. | |
| Prerequisites : Separate sections for boys and girls. Each student must be participating in a WCHS sport. The class is open to grades 10-12. | |
| Cheer (Offered after school) | |
| Cheer squads will learn about aerobic exercise and learn gymnastic skills, such as, tumbling, stunts, flips, and dance. Junior varsity and varsity cheer squads are open to girls. | |
| Prerequisites : Try-outs are held prior to start of school year. | |
| Team Sports | |
| Each player will learn about the rules and regulations of the sport and sportsmanship. Each player will learn about the personal, social and spiritual developments of participating in team sports. Each sport played earns five (5) units of credit toward graduation. An a thletic fee will be charged for each sport taken . | |
| Prerequisites : Tryouts are held prior to each sport offered. | |
