MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
All students are required to take three years of mathematics to graduate.
| Algebra 1A | (CSU/UC) |
| This class is designed to move at a slower pace, so students may cover the first semester of the first year of algebra over the course of two semesters. The student must also complete Algebra 1B to receive full credit for Algebra 1. | |
| Prerequisites : The completion of pre-Algebra with a grade of “C” or better; Admission by math department recommendation. | |
| Algebra 1B | (CSU/UC) |
| Designed at a slower pace, Algebra 1B students cover the second half of Algebra 1 over the course of two semesters. The completion of Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B, with a grade of “C” or better, meets the CSU/UC algebra requirement. | |
| Prerequisites : Completion of Algebra 1A with a “C” or better, or the completion of Algebra 1 with a “D” or better. | |
| Algebra 1 | (CSU/UC) |
| Algebra 1 is the first year college preparatory Algebra. Concepts are taught that will prepare the student for higher levels of preparatory math. | |
| Prerequisites : The completion of Algebra 1A with a “C” or better or the completion of pre-algebra or Math 8 with a “B” or better. | |
| Geometry | (CSU/UC) |

| Prerequisites : The completion of Algebra 1 or Algebra 1B with a grade of “C” or better in the second semester. | |
| Algebra 2 | (CSU/UC) |
| Algebra 2 enables student to advance to higher levels of math including trigonometry and calculus. | |
| Prerequisites : The completion of both Algebra 1 and geometry with grade of “C” or better. | |
| Math Analysis | (CSU/UC) |
| Math analysis is an advanced level mathematics that deals with trigonometry functions, graphs, applications, and pre-calculus concepts. This class requires the purchase of a graphing calculator by the student. | |
| Prerequisites : A grade of “B” or better in Algebra 2; or grade of “C” with instructor approval. | |
| Calculus Advanced Placement (AP) | |
| Calculus AP is designed to prepare the student to take the AP Calculus test. All students enrolled are encouraged to take the AP examination, given in May. College credit may be granted for competency on this examination. Textbooks will be purchased by students. | |
| Prerequisites : Concurrent enrollment in calculus and the calculus workshop classes. A grade of “B” or better in math analysis, or grade of “C” with instructor approval. | |
| Intro to Computers – Computer 1 | |
| This class offers a study of the fundamentals of information systems. The primary objective of the class is to prepare students for academic and professional computer use.
