Since its founding in 1920, Western Christian High School continues to uphold its mission to provide high school students with a quality education in a Christ centered community. Western Christian Schools believes that service to the community is a critical component of the educational experience. Each student, therefore, is required to accumulate 20 hours of service for each year they attend WCHS (ten hours each semester). It is our sincere belief that these experiences will help lead the WCS community into a deeper understanding of the call of Christ, and will serve to enhance the overall education process.
Through supervised, purposeful and transformational service, WCHS students become thoughtful contributors to their community. The general guidelines to satisfy the graduation requirement are:
- Single Day Service Project = 5 hours
- Weekend Service Project = 10 hours (each day must include at least 5 hours of service)
- Weekly Service Project (youth group, tutoring, etc…over 15-20 weeks) = 20 hours
- Intensive week or summer long service project (Mission Trip, Coaching, etc…) = 20 hours
